Buying a King Koil Mattress

King Koil is the most common name you hear on customer’s lips when thinking about purchasing a mattress. We are often asked if we stock King Koil and when entering mattress shops it is often the first brand you see advertised.

That's a lot of hype! As a result I wanted to see what all the fuss was about and see if there was a huge difference between a DFI mattress and a King Koil mattress.

King Koil Trustpilot Reviews

The first thing I noticed was that I could not find reviews of King Koil mattresses anywhere online. The website shows no customer reviews and neither does Google. It gave me some doubt because surely the top leading brand should have amazing 5* reviews everywhere but no. I eventually discovered some on Trustpilot, which only had 24 reviews and unfortunately many of these are 1*.

Undeterred by this rocky start, I decided to find a King Koil mattress to review based on my own experience.

Finding a Stockist

Using the King Koil website I located and visited a King Koil stockist near me and, after looking at the mattress type available, purchased the King Koil Comfort Gel mattress with 2000 pocket springs.

Unfortunately the wait time for this mattress was going to be 4-6 weeks (compared to DFI where we get mattresses to our customers within a few days!) but I agreed and waited patiently for my new mattress to arrive.

It was a long wait but finally my mattress arrived!

At first, the mattress was comfortable and supportive, and I could see why it's such a popular choice. The gel-infused layer provided a cool and comfortable sleep surface, and the pocket springs offered good support for my body.

However, after a few months, I noticed that the mattress was sagging on one side, and I felt like I was sinking into it each night. Despite following all the advice and regularly turning the mattress, the issue persisted.

I contacted the stockist, who put me in touch with a King Koil represtantive, and after some back and froth email and photo evidence I am now waiting to hear back about a replacement under the warranty.

This experience has raised concerns about the durability of King Koil mattresses and the effectiveness of their customer service, I feel very much like I was palmed off from stockist to the company and back. 

King Koil Mattress Review: Pros & Cons

So, are King Koil mattresses any good? Lets look at some pros and cons.

Pros:

• King Koil mattresses come in a range of pocket spring counts, making it easy for customers to find the perfect mattress for their needs and budget. The Comfort Gel mattress is a standout option, with a gel-infused layer and a box top topper. You can even upgrade to a higher pocket spring count and a pillow top. This range of options makes King Koil mattresses appealing to a wide range of customers.

• King Koil mattresses come with a 10-year warranty, which is great for customers who want peace of mind knowing that their investment is protected for a decade.

• The website is user-friendly, making it easy to find a stockist near you that carries King Koil mattresses. Many stockists offer delivery within a reasonable timeframe, and the mattress is delivered directly to your home, eliminating the need for you to transport it yourself.

• The quality of King Koil mattresses is generally high, with many customers reporting that the mattresses are comfortable and provide good support for their bodies. This is due in part to the brand's use of pocket springs, which help to distribute weight evenly and reduce pressure points.

• King Koil has a strong reputation for innovation and is constantly developing new technologies to improve the comfort and durability of its mattresses. This commitment to innovation means that customers can expect to enjoy the latest advancements in sleep technology when they purchase a King Koil mattress.

Cons:

• Despite being a leading brand, there aren't many King Koil mattress reviews available online. Trustpilot only has 24 customer reviews, many of which are negative. This lack of feedback can make it difficult for customers to make an informed decision about whether to purchase a King Koil mattress.

• King Koil mattresses are on the expensive side, with prices ranging from several hundred to thousands. This can be a deal-breaker for customers who are on a tight budget or looking for a more affordable option.

• The wait time for delivery can be lengthy, with some customers reporting wait times of up to six weeks (including yours truly!). This can be frustrating for customers who want a mattress quickly or need it for a specific event or occasion.

• Some customers have reported sagging and compression over time, which may affect the durability of the mattress. This issue could be a concern for customers who want a mattress that will last for many years.

King Koil Review Conclusion

Based on my personal experience carrying out research for this King Koil mattress review, I have mixed feelings about the brand.

While the King Koil Comfort Gel mattress with 2000 pocket springs was comfortable and supportive at first, it eventually started sagging on one side, causing me to sink into the mattress each night. Despite following all the advice and regularly turning the mattress, the issue persisted.

The process of getting a replacement under the warranty has also been slow and frustrating.

Additionally, the high price point and the long wait for delivery (4-6 weeks) may put some customers off.

While King Koil mattresses have some great features, such as the range of pocket spring counts and the Comfort Gel mattress, the lack of customer reviews, concerns about durability and customer service, and delivery time may make it difficult for some customers to justify the investment.
