When choosing a bed for your bedroom, size matters! Finding the right bed and mattress size for you and the space you have available is essential. Mattress sizes tend to differ between countries, which can make it confusing when researching different bed size options.

Determining the best size of bed for your bedroom is down to two things: available space and personal preference.
Do you have enough space?
The dimensions of a Double bed and mattress in cm are 135cm wide and 190cm long. In feet and inches, this is 4 feet 6 inches wide and 6 feet 3 inches long.
The double mattress and bed is the most common size for a bed in Ireland and one you are likely to be familiar with.
Standard double mattresses offer enough room for two people to sleep comfortably, and works well for those with limited space in the bedroom. In a recent sleep survey conducted by DFI Beds, a majority of respondents (47.35%) stated their current bed was a double.
The dimensions of a Super King size bed and mattress in cm are 180cm wide x 200cm long.In feet and inches, this is 6ft wide x 6ft 6in long.
As the name would suggest, the Super King mattress is the daddy of all mattresses and the largest bed and mattress size available from DFI Beds. This is sometimes referred to as a 6 foot bed.
If you’re looking for a serious amount of prime sleeping real estate or if you value having a bit of extra personal space in bed, the super king will have you covered. With more than enough room for two people, it will easily accommodate additional small family members and pets for weekend morning snuggles.

Sometimes referred to as a 5 foot bed, a King size mattress offers ample space for two people and is ideal for taller people. As the height of the average Irish person is a mere 5 feet 7.72 inches, the king size should offer more than enough legroom for the average individual. And if you’re over 6 foot 2, this is definitely the bed for you!
The dimensions of a Small Double bed and mattress in cm are 120cm wide and 190cm long. In feet and inches, this is 4 feet wide and 6 feet 3 inches long.
Small doubles are ideal for one individual who likes the space to stretch out in bed.
A small double will fit two adults, but things will get up close and personal. A small double offers comfort without sacrificing space in smaller rooms with the added bonus that our Divan bed sets come with a two or four drawer option, offering additional storage
The dimensions of a Single bed and mattress in cm are 90cm wide and 190cm long. In feet and inches, this is 3 feet wide and 6 feet 3 inches long.
A single mattress and bed are the ideal size for children, providing plenty of room for them to grow into over the years (check out our Kids Beds here). Also a great option for guest bedrooms and children sharing rooms, or spare rooms with limited space, single mattresses provide a comfortable nights sleep for one child or adult.
A Queen size bed is not a standard bed size in Ireland. However, the bed that in North America is referred to as a Queen Size has dimensions 5 feet wide by 6 feet 8 inches which is the same width as the Irish King Size bed but a little longer (2 inches). This mattress size is not available on the Irish market.
