Is Beauty Sleep Real?

Is Beauty Sleep Real?

‘Catching on my beauty sleep’ is a common phrase we hear a lot, but is beauty sleep a real thing?  Fact or Fiction?

There are lots of benefits that come from getting a good night’s sleep, while we sleep our stress hormone goes down and our sleep hormone goes up which helps repair our body and skin.

From glowing skin to healthier hair here is what you need to know before you even put on that new moisturiser.

The trick is, get a good night’s sleep, 7-9 hours to be exact!

What are the benefits of beauty sleep?

Less Wrinkles

Fun fact, your skin makes new collagen while you sleep which helps prevent sagging, so basically the more you sleep, the more collagen and the less wrinkles. Anyone else reckon they may start going to be at 9pm for a snooze?

Complexion

Sleep deprivation is something everyone has experienced from time to time, you lose out on sleep, you wake up feeling like crap, walk into work to get told you look like crap or you look like you haven’t had a good night’s sleep.

Sleep deprivation causes decrease in blood flow which makes the skin dull, causes bags, it can even cause you to break out in spots too. BUT if you do decide to get them hours in, your body boosts blood flow to the skin while you snooze which means you start having a healthy glow and getting the colour back in those rosy cheeks.

Brighter Eyes

No more concealer to hide my bags? Where do I sign up?

Puffy and bags under our eyes at the first things people notice when you don’t get enough sleep. Close the eyes for 7 – 9 hours a night and you will wake up with brighter and more alert around the eyes, (maybe after your morning coffee first!)

Healthier Hair

Not only does our face get all the benefits of beauty sleep, our hair follicles get vitamins and nutrients from the blood flow while we have our snooze, but blood flow decreases once we don’t get enough sleep. Not getting enough sleep can also mean we get stressed very easy which leads to hair loss.

Happier

Who wouldn’t feel happier getting told they look great? Getting a good night’s sleep will make you feel better when you wake up, feel more alert and a lot happier.

At the end of the day, happiness is what makes you pretty, you glow differently when you’re happy.

The point I am trying to make is beauty sleep is very much a real thing and not just a catchy phrase.

Don’t lose out on the Zzz or it will affect a lot more than you think.
